The international conference on secondary vocational education was held in Belgrade on 20-21 September 2016 in the organisation of partners on the project “Reform of Vocational Education and Training in Serbia“ – the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Institute for Advancement of Education and GIZ - German Agency for International Cooperation. 

This project is one of the reform measures aimed at increasing the quality, relevance and effectiveness of education, as well as the coverage of children and youth with education. In recent years, special attention has been paid to the system of vocational education, its reform and the effects and results of the various measures taken.

The results of the reform achieved to date were presented at the conference Shared Vision: Education for Practical Knowledge and Skills, after which a discussion was opened about different areas of vocational education that could be the subject of further reform and improvement activities in the future. 

Participating in the panel “Competencies for the world of work - Vocational education and training as a means of social inclusion” Praxis shared its experiences related to the main obstacles to enrollment in secondary schools for Roma children; knowledge about the system of vocational education among the Roma population, with special emphasis on cooperative education models; the influence of parents and representatives of relevant institutions in selecting and continuing education; knowledge about affirmative action, success and importance of professional orientation; as well as the impact of discrimination and poverty on education of Roma children.
